Next-year arrival of Chinese automaker GAC in the UK market

Starting from the end of Q1 2026, the UK market will welcome two new electric vehicles: the Aion UT hatchback and the Aion V SUV, manufactured by Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC). This entry into the UK market is made possible through a joint venture between GAC and Jameel Motors.

The Aion V SUV, a C-segment all-electric vehicle, and the Aion UT hatchback, a B-segment electric car, will initially be available through select retail partners across the UK. Jameel Motors, which already distributes electric commercial vehicles in the UK, is expanding its portfolio to include GAC's passenger EVs.

This partnership is part of GAC's internationalisation strategy and the growing UK electric vehicle market. With first customer deliveries expected at the end of Q1 2026 or by spring 2026, additional Aion models are planned to expand the lineup in the future.

Jasmmine Wong, CEO of Jameel Motors, expressed her shared vision with GAC and excitement for meeting the UK's demand for smarter, cleaner passenger vehicles. The company's approach is guided by customer preference and expertise.

GAC, one of China's largest carmakers, is committed to bringing industry-leading products and first-class services to UK consumers. The Aion UT hatchback, which is Renault 5-sized, and the Aion V SUV, a model that rivals the Volkswagen ID.4, are expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2026.

Jameel Motors is currently distributing the Geely-owned Farizon commercial vehicle brand in the UK. The partnership aims to deliver first-class, innovative, and sustainable solutions to the UK market. This announcement marks GAC’s formal entry into the UK passenger EV market.

This news comes as four other Chinese car brands have entered the UK market this month. GAC is the latest addition to the growing number of Chinese automakers looking to tap into the UK's growing demand for cleaner vehicles. Wayne Wei, President of GAC International, stated that this entry into the UK is a crucial step in its internationalization strategy.

Jameel Motors is committed to staying ahead of trends and delivering innovative, sustainable solutions. The company's expansion into the passenger EV market with GAC's Aion models is a testament to this commitment. More details about the specific retail partners and sales timeline will be announced at a later date.
