New Survival Shooting Method Focuses on Target Awareness, Multiple Threats

A new survival shooting training method has been developed, focusing on maintaining situational awareness and handling multiple threats. The training, created by unidentified experts, emphasizes target-focused shooting over traditional sight-focused techniques.

The training begins with 'Phase One: Drawing to the Target'. Participants start with their eyes on the target, draw their weapon, place a dot on the target, and repeat. This phase helps establish a consistent and accurate starting point.

During introductory pistol training, instructors advise focusing on the front sight or dot while allowing the target to blur. This technique aids in achieving accurate shots.

'Phase Two: Target Transitions' involves drawing, shooting, immediately shifting focus to the next target, and shooting again. This phase prepares shooters for multiple threat situations.

The training acknowledges the balance between accuracy and speed. In life-threatening situations, one must prioritize addressing multiple threats over perfecting shot grouping. It also helps maintain situational awareness, preparing shooters for scenarios with damaged or occluded sight windows.

To improve survival shooting, the training encourages shifting focus from sight-focused to target-focused techniques.

For practical application, set up two identical targets with 3-inch dots, hung approximately 5 feet apart and placed 7 yards down range. Using an optics-clad pistol with an occluded or blocked-out sight window helps develop point-shooting techniques without relying on drills. Blue painter's tape or modified optic covers can block the front of the optic for this purpose.

This innovative survival shooting training method, developed by unknown experts, emphasizes target-focused shooting and maintaining situational awareness. It balances accuracy and speed, preparing shooters for real-life threats and scenarios with damaged or occluded sight windows.
