In a significant move for visual effects enthusiasts, Sapphire has announced the release of Sapphire 2022, which now offers Sapphire for Photoshop, bringing the powerful visual effects capabilities of the plugin directly into Photoshop workflows.

The 2022 version introduces a host of new features and improvements, including the S_ColorFuse effect. This advanced colour effect offers users the ability to create unique and dynamic colour transitions and grading effects. Another notable addition is the S_UltraZap effect, designed to create energetic zap-like visual effects, perfect for high-impact flashes and digital energy effects.

Sapphire 2022 also boasts a fresh set of creatively designed presets to jumpstart artists' creativity and offer immediate high-quality looks out of the box. To ensure smooth and responsive editing even on complex compositions, the software has been optimized for maximum CPU and GPU performance.

For those already using Sapphire, the 2022 update is a free one for customers on active subscription or support plans. The new version also improves support for Apple M1 and Adobe Multi-Frame Rendering, and adds OCIO V2 support.

Beyond Photoshop, Sapphire 2022 offers several enhancements for After Effects and Premiere Pro users. These include revamped and enhanced LensFlare and Flare Designer tools, a new PixelSort digital glitch art effect, a WhipLash transition that adds dynamic movement transitions, and an animating shape tool integrated into the Effect and Transition Builder.

Moreover, Sapphire 2022 now includes Mocha tracking and masking for its effects, and the UltraZap effect has been enhanced with the addition of built-in Mocha tools for better tracking and masking. The LUT effect can also be used for quick creation of cinematic color grades.

With these updates, Sapphire 2022 is poised to make a significant impact, offering both expanded creative options and improved workflow efficiency across supported hosts, including Photoshop. The software is available for purchase starting at $495/year or $65/month.
