NBA Africa renews Triple-Double Accelerator to support African sports-technology startups
The NBA Africa has announced the second edition of its Triple-Double Accelerator program, designed to support early-stage African startups innovating in the sports and creative sectors. This program, which is managed by ALX Ventures, a pan-African incubator, aims to foster growth in areas such as fan engagement, athlete performance, community fitness, music, fashion, gaming, and digital media.
The application process for the 2025 program is now open, with applications being accepted from early August through August 29, 2025. The program is seeking early-stage startups based in Africa that are working at the intersection of sports, technology, and the creative economy.
From the applications received, a top 10 startups will be selected to participate in a 10-week accelerator program. During this program, startups will receive mentorship from NBA Africa, ALX Ventures, ServiceNow, and other corporate partners. The mentorship program focuses on product development, business growth, and go-to-market strategies.
The program culminates in a Demo Day in December 2025, where startups will pitch to international industry leaders. The top five prize-winning companies will be awarded financial grants (up to $50,000) and additional mentorship support.
ServiceNow has joined as an official partner for the program, aiming to facilitate business transformation through AI and other tools. Last year, over 700 startups applied to the program, and the four prize winners were Festival Coins, Salubata, HustleSasa, and UBR VR.
Clare Akamanzi, CEO of NBA Africa, made a statement about the program, saying, "The Triple-Double Accelerator program has shown the talent, passion, and creativity of African entrepreneurs. We are excited to launch the second edition of the program and continue to support African startups in their journey to success."
Startups interested in applying for the program can do so through Aug. 29 at TripleDoubleAccelerator.NBA.com. NBA Africa will announce details about this year's Demo Day later in the year.
