Marmara University Displayed Cutting-edge Hydrogen Vehicle at Teknofest 2025 Event

Marmara University's Mechatronics Engineering Club has made a splash at Teknofest Istanbul with their hydrogen-powered prototype vehicle. The vehicle, developed by the university's students, is currently on display at the Marmara University stand, attracting significant attention from visitors, engineers, and technology enthusiasts.

The hydrogen vehicle, which the team showcased at the Shell Eco-Marathon in Poland, is equipped with a range of safety features. These include a double-stage pressure regulator, an emergency shutdown valve, a pressure relief valve, and a continuous hydrogen sensor. The vehicle's safety is further emphasized by a multi-layered safety topology.

The Tongsheng 130RX Brushless DC hub motor provides efficient propulsion while minimizing energy losses. The electrical system of the vehicle is divided into two domains: a 48V high-voltage line for propulsion and a 12V low-voltage line for control and auxiliary systems.

The vehicle uses a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell system that converts hydrogen into electricity. This innovative design demonstrates the viability and sustainability of hydrogen as a fuel for the future. The project serves as a proof-of-concept for hydrogen-powered mobility.

The team representative stated that the project is a culmination of their dedication to sustainable technology. They are proud to have represented Marmara University and Turkey on a global stage and excited to showcase their work to the thousands of visitors at Teknofest.

The success of the Marmara University team at an international level and their presence at Teknofest underscores the growing potential and talent within Turkey's engineering community. The team believes that hydrogen has a huge role to play in the future of transportation and hopes their vehicle inspires others to explore this field.

Teknofest 2025 opened in Istanbul, featuring air shows and tech competitions. The project at Marmara University is a unique opportunity for the public to witness the innovative work being done by Turkish university students in the field of sustainable transportation.
