Two Arrests Made During Raids for Black Market Work in Construction Industry - Major Operation Nets 2 Arrests in €5M Construction Black Market Case
A major operation involving 290 officers has resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of evidence related to a suspected black market operation in the construction industry. The operation, led by the Public Prosecutor's Office and Main Customs Office, targeted a network allegedly evading social security contributions and taxes on a large scale.
The investigation focused on a group of individuals, including six men and five women, accused of operating construction companies and service providers. These companies are suspected of providing services worth around €5 million nationwide, while also selling cover invoices worth approximately €3 million. The suspects are believed to have paid employees in cash, bypassing social security and tax obligations, resulting in a loss of €1.4 million for social security authorities.
The operation involved the search of 23 objects, including two construction sites, across Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Berlin, and Frankfurt am Main. Despite the extensive searches, the names of the women suspected in the raids have not been disclosed. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge in the coming days.
The operation highlights the ongoing efforts to combat tax evasion and fraud in the construction industry. The suspects are accused of exploiting the system for personal gain, undermining the integrity of the industry and the wider economy. The investigation is a reminder of the importance of robust enforcement and the need for vigilance against such activities.
