Magic V5 by Honor sets a new global record - the feat remains unknown to guess.
The year 2025 is shaping up to be a groundbreaking year for the tech market, with significant advancements in both slim and foldable phones. Among the notable devices making waves in the current tech market are the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and the recently unveiled Honor Magic V5.
The Honor Magic V5, developed in collaboration with Qualcomm and Google, has earned a Guinness World Record for an unconventional reason. The device, part of Honor's AI device ecosystem strategy, boasts the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, Google's AI expertise, and Honor's own technology.
To showcase the strength of the Honor Magic V5's hinge, a weight lifting event was held in Dubai on the 1st of August. The handset successfully suspended a fridge weighing 84kg and 20kg of weighted plates, lifting a total weight of 104kg. This weight lifting performance not only demonstrates the durability of the Honor Magic V5 but also set a new Guinness World Record for the heaviest weight lifted by a suspended foldable phone.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has also made its debut, pushing the boundary for handset size further than ever before. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has been released, demonstrating Samsung's continued presence in the foldable phone market. Rumors suggest that the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold will also be a significant player in this innovative sector.
As an author who has previously used and enjoyed the Honor Magic V2 and Honor Magic V3, I am excited to see what the Honor Magic V5 brings to the table. With its impressive weight lifting feat and collaboration with tech giants Qualcomm and Google, the Honor Magic V5 is certainly a landmark device in the third wave of folding handsets.
