Limited Production of the Volkswagen ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice Model Commences
In a nod to the iconic 1990 Golf Mk2 Fire and Ice edition, Volkswagen has launched the ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice model into production. This limited-edition electric vehicle, available in a run of just 1,990 units worldwide, is a contemporary take on the original, developed in collaboration with sportswear brand Bogner Fire+Ice.
### Design and Features
The ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice boasts a distinctive exterior design, featuring Metallic Ultra Violet paint, a nod to the original, with a red roof frame stripe. A special transparent matt decal on the C-pillar, the Fire and Ice logo on the roof spoiler, tinted tail lamps, and 20-inch Locarno rims with red GTX center caps complete the sporty look.
Inside, the dual-tone “Fire Red” and “Cool Blue” theme reflects the fire and ice motif, with features such as an AR head-up display, massage seats, and a Harman Kardon sound system. Unique lighting effects project fire graphics on the driver’s door floor and ice graphics on the passenger side when doors open, adding a touch of drama.
### Performance and Specifications
Under the hood, the ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice offers two powertrain options: 286 PS (282 hp) or 326 PS (322 hp) electric motors, both delivering a powerful 545 Nm of torque. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 5.7 seconds, with a top speed limited to 200 km/h.
The vehicle is equipped with a 79 kWh (net) lithium-ion battery, providing a WLTP combined range of approximately 591 km. It supports up to 185 kW DC fast charging, capable of achieving 10-80% charge in about 26 minutes.
### Pricing and Availability
In Germany, the starting price for the ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice is €56,020 (approximately RM 278,000). The limited edition is now available for reservation in Germany.
