Led Industry Experiencing Potential Recovery?

The LED market, as represented by Cree Inc., is showing signs of recovery after a period of slower growth than expected. Cree Inc., a leading player in the sector, reported a 17% increase in revenue to $315.8 million, with earnings rising by 13% to $31.8 million or $0.27 per share.

Cree's CEO stated that the company's backlog is stronger than the previous quarter, indicating a positive outlook for future growth. The company is targeting revenue between $320 million and $340 million for the upcoming quarter. In terms of earnings, Cree is targeting earnings per share between $0.27 and $0.31.

Cree Inc.'s stock price has reflected this positive momentum, increasing by 8.7% to $28.55. The stock is currently within its 52-week range of $20.25 to $33.45.

Other companies in the LED sector are also experiencing growth. Aixtron SE's stock price is up by more than 3% at $13.36, within its 52-week range of $11.18 to $19.44. SemiLEDs Corp.'s ADRs are up by 2.6% at $1.57, within its 52-week range of $1.52 to $4.84.

Veeco Instruments Inc.'s stock price gapped higher to $30.61 but is currently up by only 0.5% at $30.20. The growth in the LED sector is coming back at a somewhat normalized level, as predicted.

One notable development in the sector is the increased activity of TCL, who has become the leader in global Mini-LED TV shipments. TCL's strong performance in the European market, with a 176% increase in the first half of 2025, has significantly improved their market ranking.

Despite the recovery, the LED sector is still off its old highs, indicating that there may be room for further growth in the future. As the industry continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how companies like Cree Inc., Aixtron SE, SemiLEDs Corp., and Veeco Instruments Inc. adapt and thrive in this dynamic market.
