Leaked Pixel 10 phone cases reveal intriguing magnetic feature
The upcoming Google Pixel 10 series is creating a buzz in the tech world, thanks to leaked cases that suggest the inclusion of MagSafe-like functionality. The leaked cases, shared by Dutch website Nieuwemobiel, reveal a magnetic ring that could potentially support Qi2 wireless charging and magnetically attach the smartphones to compatible accessories.
The magnetic ring in the Pixel 10 series cases shares similarities with what is found in Apple's official iPhone cases and third-party Pixel cases that enable MagSafe-like functionality. If the Pixel 10 series does indeed include Qi2 wireless charging, it would be the first flagship smartphone in the U.S. to do so.
The magnetic ring is expected to enhance the connection with compatible accessories, such as chargers, power banks, wallets, and other accessories. The Pixel 10 series is rumoured to offer Qi2 wireless charging support natively, not just through third-party cases.
Google has reportedly launched a first-party lineup called Pixelsnap, which uses the built-in magnets in the Pixel 10 series to attach chargers, stands, cases, and other accessories magnetically with precise orientation and alignment. This lineup is designed specifically for the Pixel 10’s Qi2 magnetic hardware.
In addition, the Pixel 10 series is also expected to work seamlessly with existing Apple MagSafe accessories, such as chargers, wallets, stands, and cases, without needing a magnetic case. This compatibility is possible because the phones are rumoured to incorporate the Magnetic Power Profile (MPP) magnets natively under the rear glass.
The Pixel 10 cases, like those from the Pixel 9 series, feature a fabric-like texture and the signature "G" logo on the back. The leaked cases show colour options for the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro XL, including Moonstone, Jade, Porcelain, Indigo, Obsidian, Limoncello, and Frost.
The Pixel 10 Pro XL cases are expected to be available in these colours, while the baseline Pixel 10 cases will come in Indigo, Obsidian, Limoncello, and Frost. The official cases for the Pixel 10 series with built-in magnets may help enhance the magnetic hold for MagSafe-like accessories.
As we await the official launch of the Google Pixel 10 series, it's exciting to see the potential integration of MagSafe-like functionality. With the confirmed compatibility of Google's Pixelsnap official accessories and the entire ecosystem of Apple MagSafe-compatible magnetic accessories, the Pixel 10 series is set to offer a wide range of magnetic accessories for users to choose from.
