The HTWK Robots Team, a group of around 20 computer scientists from HTWK Leipzig, have made history by winning the World Championship at RoboCup 2025 in Salvador, Brazil. The team's victory was made possible by the new Booster K1 robots from Booster Robotics, which provided enhanced capabilities that led to a dominant 11:0 win over the Chinese team TH-MOS in the final.

Since April, the football enthusiast scientists have been working with the Booster K1 robots, humanoid robots from Booster Robotics in Beijing, China. These robots, approximately one-meter-tall and 20-kilograms, are larger and more advanced than the Nao robots HTWK had previously used since 2009.

The Booster K1 robots offered significant improvements in computing power, sensor technology, and mechanical capabilities, enabling superior performance on the field. This upgrade was a key factor in the team's success at RoboCup 2025, where they competed in both the "Humanoid League - Kid Size" and the "Standard Platform League."

Prof. Jens Wagner, HTWK professor for mobile robotics, praised the partnership with Booster Robotics as a "leap to a new level" for HTWK Robots. The team's strong technical and tactical execution during the match was also a crucial factor, as both teams were using Booster Robotics platforms, making behavioral algorithms and effective team coordination decisive.

The victory against the Chinese team is a clear proof of the outstanding research and development competence of HTWK Leipzig and its alumni in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics. The HTWK Rector, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jean-Alexander Müller, congratulated everyone involved on the World Championship title of the Boosted HTWK Robots in Brazil.

This year's RoboCup in Salvador, Brazil, saw 2,500 participants from 37 countries compete in 250 teams. The Booster K1 robots, with their quantum leap in computing power, sensors, and mechanical possibilities, have opened new opportunities for robotics research and development, and the HTWK Robots Team is at the forefront of this exciting field.
