The electric scooter manufacturer, Ather Energy, has confirmed plans to integrate cruise control into its popular 450X and 450 Apex models. This exciting development is expected to be officially announced during the company's Community Day event scheduled for August 30, 2025.

The cruise control feature will be delivered via an over-the-air (OTA) software update. However, it's important to note that this update will be available only for vehicles equipped with the AtherStack Pro software package, Ather's proprietary software ecosystem offering advanced connectivity and safety features.

The Ather 450 series, which consists of three models - 450s, 450X, and 450 Apex, will see this enhancement. The 450s, available with two battery pack options, offers a claimed range of 122 km for the 2.9 kWh battery pack and 161 km for the 3.7 kWh battery pack. The smaller battery pack version of the 450X offers a claimed range of 126 km, while the larger battery pack provides a claimed range of 161 km. The Ather 450 Apex, a limited-edition model priced at ₹1.84 lakh, is only available with the 3.7 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed range of 157 km and a top speed of 100 kmph.

The Ather 450 Apex, launched to commemorate Ather Energy's 10th anniversary, includes the AtherStack Pro as a standard feature. It boasts a 0-40 kmph acceleration time of 2.9 seconds, making it one of the quickest electric scooters in its class.

The Atherstack Pro on the 2.9 kWh Ather 450X adds features like location sharing and an extended battery warranty of 5 years or 50,000 km. On the 3.7 kWh Ather 450X, the Atherstack Pro includes a 7-inch touchscreen cluster, "magic twist," theft alert, and other enhancements.

This move by Ather Energy aligns with the industry trend of enhancing models via software updates, as seen with competitors. For instance, Ola Electric added cruise control to its S1 range in June 2022.
