Google has unveiled its latest flagship smartphones for 2022: the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Both devices showcase significant upgrades, particularly in display, cameras, battery, RAM, and pricing.

Display

The Pixel 7 sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and ~416 PPI pixel density. On the other hand, the Pixel 7 Pro boasts a larger 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO AMOLED display with a sharper 120Hz refresh rate and ~512 PPI pixel density. Both displays offer HDR10+ and IP68 water/dust resistance, with the Pro hitting a higher peak brightness of 1500 nits compared to the Pixel 7's 1400 nits.

Camera

In terms of cameras, both devices share the same 50MP main and 12.5MP ultrawide cameras. However, the Pro's ultrawide camera features autofocus and a wider field of view (125.8° vs. 114°). The Pixel 7 Pro also includes a 48MP telephoto lens, providing up to 30x Super Res Zoom, a feature lacking in the Pixel 7. Both devices come equipped with a 10.8MP wide-angle front camera.

Battery and Charging

The Pixel 7 Pro boasts a larger 5,000mAh battery compared to the Pixel 7's 4,270mAh. Both devices support 23W wired charging, 23W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging.

Performance and Memory

Both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are powered by the Google Tensor G2 chip and run Android 13 with five years of security updates. The Pixel 7 Pro offers more RAM options (12GB vs. 8GB) and larger storage variants (up to 512GB vs. 256GB).

Build and Size

The Pixel 7 Pro is physically larger and heavier than the Pixel 7, with dimensions of 170 x 76.6 x 8.9mm and a weight of 212g compared to the Pixel 7's dimensions of 155.6 x 73.2 x 8.7mm and a weight of 197g. The Pro also features a curved display.

Price

The Pixel 7 starts at around $599-$699, while the Pixel 7 Pro ranges from $899 to $1,099, reflecting the extra features and premium components.

In summary, the Pixel 7 Pro offers upgrades such as a larger, sharper, and smoother display, an additional telephoto camera with more advanced zoom capabilities, a bigger battery, more RAM and storage options, and a premium build with a curved screen. The Pixel 7 remains a highly capable device with great performance and cameras but is more compact and more affordable.
