Land Rover's new model, possibly the Range Rover Velar, may lean towards a crossover design rather than a traditional SUV, echoing Land Rover's interpretation of the Jaguar F-Pace.

Jaguar F-Pace Remains Top Seller, While New Models Gain Attention

In the automotive world, the Jaguar F-Pace continues to shine as the brand's best-selling car, outperforming the XF, XJ, and F-Type combined. This success has been a significant factor in Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) surpassing the 600,000 annual sales mark for the first time.

Meanwhile, anticipation is growing for the upcoming releases of the Range Rover Velar and the Range Rover Sport Coupe. Both vehicles are expected to make their debuts in the coming months, with the Range Rover Velar set to grace the Geneva Motor Show next year.

Interestingly, the underpinnings for the Range Rover Sport Coupe and the Range Rover Velar are borrowed from the new Jaguar F-Pace. This shared platform suggests a close relationship between these models, and it could indicate a similar driving experience for both the road-focused Range Rover Sport Coupe and the Range Rover Velar, Land Rover's first proper road-focused SUV.

JLR has hinted at a shift in production strategy, with plans to increase production of the new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport while reducing output of other models such as the Jaguar F-Pace, Range Rover Velar, Land Rover Evoque, and Land Rover Discovery Sport. This move suggests that JLR is focusing on its most popular and profitable models.

Rumours abound regarding potential engine upgrades for these new models. There are whispers of a new V8 engine from BMW making its way to Jaguars and Land Rovers, with both the Range Rover Sport Coupe and the Range Rover Velar potential candidates for this powerful engine. If this proves to be true, it could significantly enhance the performance and appeal of these vehicles.

Both the Range Rover Velar and the Range Rover Sport Coupe will come equipped with JLR's latest Ingenium engines. This includes a 2.0-liter 4-pot and an upcoming 3.0-liter 6-pot, offering a balance of power and efficiency.

The Range Rover Sport Coupe, which is expected to sit between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport, is designed to appeal to city dwellers rather than country buyers. It will prioritise road dynamics over off-road capabilities, making it a more urban-friendly option in the Range Rover lineup.

The Range Rover Velar, on the other hand, will maintain a focus on both on-road performance and off-road capability, making it a versatile addition to the JLR lineup.

In Scotland, the Jaguar F-Pace has been recognised as the best SUV, winning the Scottish Car of the Year award. This accolade further cements the F-Pace's position as a standout model in the JLR lineup.

Next year's Geneva Motor Show is shaping up to be an exciting event, with the debut of the Range Rover Sport Coupe/Velar set to take centre stage. The prestigious international platform for premieres will ensure maximum visibility and impact for these new models, further cementing JLR's position in the automotive industry.
