Land Rover Unveils Powerful Defender V8, Starting at £98,505
Land Rover has unveiled the new Defender V8, the range-topping model powered by a mighty 525bhp engine. Despite the power and luxury, details about the mastermind behind its construction remain elusive.
The Defender V8 boasts impressive performance, accelerating from 0-62 mph in just 5.2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 149 mph. Inside, drivers enjoy an Alcantara-covered steering wheel, chrome paddle shifters, and an optional 11.4-inch Pivi Pro Touchscreen. Under the bonnet, stiffer suspension, thicker anti-roll bars, and rear axle yaw control ensure a thrilling drive.
The V8 is available in Defender Carpathian and XS Editions, with additional personalization options like Bright Pack, Extender Bright Pack, and Extended Black Pack. Externally, it sports a distinctive design with blue brake calipers, quad tailpipes, and grey 22-inch alloys. Meanwhile, a more rugged Defender Trophy Edition has been launched, limited to 220 units, but sadly not available in the UK.
Rumours suggest a Land Rover Defender SVR with a 600bhp BMW V8 engine is in development, set to further elevate the range's performance.
The Defender V8 starts at £98,505 for the 90 model and £101,150 for the 110 model, undercutting the Mercedes G63 by a substantial £30,000. Despite the mystery surrounding its creator, the Defender V8's power, luxury, and customization options make it a formidable addition to the range.
