Five years after the turbulent events of Jurassic World Dominion, we're diving back into the chaos. The story is set in a world that's not so accommodating for our prehistoric pals anymore. Those motherfucking terrors remain only in isolated, tropical environments, where their ancestors used to hang out. But here's where shit gets interesting—the three nastiest dino-freaks on this island hold the key to a new drug that could work miracles for humans in dire need of a lifeline.
Scarlett Johansson will be gracing the screen this time around, along with the talented cast of Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and others. Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a sharp-witted covert operations pro, tasked with leading an expert team on a dangerously secretive mission—obtaining genetic material from the world's largest reptilian mutants. Swimming into danger, they inevitably bump heads with a common family whose boat trip went south, thanks to some aquatic, intimidating housepets. Stranded together, they come face-to-face with some nasty, long-hidden secrets from the past.
The narrative feels kinda like a blend of Jurassic Park III and The Lost World, don't you think? Between the family being stuck and the professionals bravely blasting into a dinosaur-infested area, it's a recipe for a thrilling, Jurassic World style-movie. It's too bad the writers decided to separate the dinos from the planet's ecosystem post Dominion...it could've been cool to see some actual integration! But hey, "Rebirth" implies this is just the start for the story and the characters, so who knows what's coming next? At least it's better than Dominion.
Now, who are the players in this dino-drama? Academy Award-winner Ali plays Duncan Kincaid, Zora's right-hand man; Bailey is the paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis; Friend is Martin Krebs, an ambitious pharmaceutical shark; while Garcia-Rulfo takes on the role of Reuben Delgado, the burdened father of the shipwrecked family.
That's not all—Luna Blaise and Audrina Miranda join the cast as Teresa and Isabella, the Delgado daughters; Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein are part of Zora's crew; and David Iacono adds another layer to the mix.
Renowned director Gareth Edwards (of Rogue One, Creator, and Godzilla fame) will be at the helm for this movie, steering the partnership with original screenwriter David Koepp. Steven Spielberg lends a hand as an executive producer.
