In a strategic move to consolidate its presence in the high-growth enterprise software space, particularly in AI, cloud computing, and data transformation, global investment firm Carlyle has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Adastra Group SE, a global IT consultancy.

The partnership between Carlyle and Adastra Group SE is expected to unlock a new phase of growth for the IT consultancy, which specializes in data, cloud, and AI transformations. Rob Turner, CEO at Adastra, and Pavel Kysela, COO at Adastra, expressed their excitement about the partnership, while Vladimir Lasocki, Co-Head of the CETP investment advisory team, and Greg Zeluck, Co-Head of the CAPG investment advisory team, are pleased to partner with Adastra's founders.

Adastra Group SE, founded in 2000 and headquartered in Prague and Toronto, boasts a workforce of over 2,000 employees. The company caters to enterprise clients and has expertise in sectors like financial services, insurance, automotive, and retail.

Carlyle plans to enhance Adastra's offerings and expand its international presence. The investment firm sees a significant opportunity to expand Adastra's presence in the large, fast-growing, and attractive global market for data, analytics, cloud, and AI transformations.

The acquisition aligns with Carlyle's broader strategy of sector consolidation. By acquiring Adastra, Carlyle bolsters its position in technology services, leveraging Adastra's scalable business model and high-margin services in a sector projected to grow significantly. Carlyle will leverage its experience in scaling leading IT service companies globally to accelerate Adastra's expansion, particularly into the U.S. market.

The acquisition is funded by Carlyle Europe Technology Partners V and Carlyle Asia Partners Growth II, both focused on high-growth technology investments. Although the financial terms were not disclosed, Carlyle will support Adastra in enhancing its data, cloud, and AI offerings, supporting existing customers and acquiring new ones, while expanding internationally through organic growth and targeted mergers and acquisitions.

Adastra's founders and leadership team will retain minority stakes, ensuring continuity in the company's operations while benefiting from Carlyle's strategic expertise and network. The partnership is believed to be a strategic move for Carlyle to tap into the growing demand for digital transformation services, leveraging Adastra's expertise in AI, cloud, and data to drive growth and converge with other strategic technology investments.
