Evelyn Wang Joins Reed Smith as a Partner in Hong Kong
Reed Smith has bolstered its Asia corporate practice with the appointment of Evelyn Wang as a partner in its Hong Kong office. Wang joins the firm from Haitong International Securities Group, where she was a director in the Loan Capital Markets team.
Evelyn Wang is a highly regarded lawyer with exceptional technical skills and a wealth of experience in debt finance matters, particularly in the regions of Greater China and Southeast Asia. She has worked on both the borrower and lender sides of transactions, advising private equity sponsors, enterprises, and institutions on cross-border leveraged and acquisition financing, margin financing, and fund financing.
Before joining Haitong International in 2022, Wang worked at Kirkland & Ellis. Johnny Lim, Asia co-chair of Reed Smith's global corporate group, expressed excitement about Wang joining the firm, stating that her arrival will greatly benefit their clients and underscores their commitment to the region by appointing market-leading talent to broaden the services they can provide.
Praj Samant, the Asia-Pacific managing partner of Reed Smith, echoed Lim's sentiments, praising Wang as a highly regarded lawyer with a wealth of experience gained in-house advising both local and international organizations. He believes that her arrival at Reed Smith will enhance the firm's finance capabilities in the region and enable them to offer a broader range of services to their clients.
Reed Smith now has 25 partners in Hong Kong, with the recent additions of corporate finance partner Regina Lui, who joined from A&O Shearman in May, and equity capital markets partner Arthur Tso, who moved from DLA Piper in December 2024. However, the firm has also seen some departures this year, with banking partner Michael Sinn and corporate specialist Patrick Wong exiting the Hong Kong office.
With the addition of Evelyn Wang, Reed Smith's Hong Kong office now boasts partners such as Regina Lui and Arthur Tso, who are well-respected in their respective fields. The firm is committed to providing the highest quality legal services to its clients and is constantly looking to expand its capabilities to meet the evolving needs of the market.
