Gaming Hardware Market Q1 2025 Update: AMD Falls, Intel Vanishes as Nvidia Pounds Ahead

unsavory, gritty, yet friendly tone

It seems Nvidia's reign in the add-in graphics card market ain't about to end anytime soon, at least according to Jon Peddie Research (JPR). The latest figures for Q1 2025 show Nvidia swallowing up a whopping 92% of the market, leaving AMD struggling with a measly 8%. Poor show, AMD, poor show.

Now, don't y'all start freakin' out just yet. AMD's new Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT hit shelves on March 6th – just three weeks that might as well be lifetime in this fast-paced industry. So, we're gonna have to sit tight for a bit longer to get a clear look at how these bad boys have shaken up the market.

And it ain't just the RX 9070 and 9070 XT we're waitin' on. The RX 9060 XT, the volume play AMD was counting on, went on sale yesterday. We're probably lookin' at waitin' until Q3 to see its impact.

On the bright side, Intel's market presence? Well, it's effectively nonexistent, thanks to their Arc B570 and B580 GPUs floppin' like a wet fish, apparently. JPR reports a 1.2% drop in Intel's share, damn near vanishing out of the market for Q1 2025. That's some troubling news if there ever was.

The Battlemage GPUs dropped at the end of 2024, so Q1 2025 should've been a decent quarter for 'em. But if JPR's numbers are to be believed, the sales are so stinkin' low, it's pushed Intel off the data radar. If half a percent was goin' Intel's way, JPR would've shouted it from the rooftops. So, boy howdy, we're talking less than one in 200 sales, maybe even less.

So, what does this mean for those rumored more powerful Battlemage GPUs, you ask? Looks like we might have to kiss those goodbye, folks. With sales like that, it seems unrealistic to expect Intel to whip out that supposed Nvidia RTX 4070 / 5070 killer.

But hey, we're lookin' forward to Q3 2025. It's then that we'll have at least a full quarter of both AMD's RX 9070 and 9060 under our belt. Just hold on tight till December, and let's cross our fingers and toes till then.

Keep in mind, this ain't the whole story. While we're waitin' for those numbers to roll in, make sure you check out our curated picks for the best CPU for gaming, best gaming motherboard, best graphics card, and best SSD for gaming. Stay ahead of the game, y'all.

Stay tuned for more updates, folks. The high-stakes world of PC gaming keeps dynamite, so keep your boots on the ground.
