Our ethos and principles

Information regarding our digital platform, encompassing a wide array of topics, from politics and technology to entertainment and more.

This dynamic website dives deep into the mobile realm, making complex tech jargon simple for all. While Android dominates our coverage, we also cast a keen eye on Chromebooks, phone accessories, gaming hardware, streaming devices, and products from brands like Apple, Amazon, and Meta.

Our story selection process is a collaborative effort, with regular team meetings to discuss the latest trends and news. Writers pitch their ideas, which get vetted by the team, reviewed by the Managing Editor, and finally, approved by the Editor-in-Chief, ensuring we deliver comprehensive, relevant content.

Who's the boss around here?

Jeremy Kaplan, our beloved Content Director, is an industry veteran with 25 years under his belt. He oversees product development and quality at the site. Before hopping aboard with Future, Jeremy was Editor-in-Chief of Digital Trends, transforming the niche publisher into a digital media powerhouse. During his tenure, the publisher won multiple awards, including a coveted Digiday Content Marketing Award in 2019, and even made it onto the annual Inc 5,000 for three consecutive years.

Our Editor-in-Chief, Shruti Shekar, hails from India, Singapore, and now, Toronto. She started her journalism career as a political reporter and transitioned into tech journalism at MobileSyrup and Yahoo Finance Canada. When work doesn't consume her thoughts, she enjoys working out, reading, binge-watching TV shows, and planning her next meal.

Derrek, a West Coast resident originally from San Diego, is our resident mobile tech aficionado. Since discovering his obsession with Nokia at the tender age of 12, he's been affectionately referred to as 'The Phone Guy.' When he's not geeking out about tech, he's either exercising, hiking, playing video games, or creating videos.

Patrick, our eCommerce Editor, is a former bookstore worker who switched to full-time writing in 2020. Patrick's writing has graced the pages of the Chicago Tribune, The Hill, BestReviews, and numerous other publications. He joined our team as Deals and Commerce Writer in 2022 and now leads the site's eCommerce coverage and major sale event dissections.

Jerry Hildenbrand, a Linux Professional, aging hippie, and recovering engineer, is our Android guru. When he's not fishing, he's breaking, fixing, and expanding his Android expertise. Jerry has a soft spot for black jelly beans and wears shoes that have survived since 1996.

Nick, with roots in DOS and NES, brings a touch of nostalgia to our tech coverage, addressing everything from VR to smart home gadgets. With over a decade in tech journalism under his belt since 2011, he's an effective guide through the ever-evolving tech landscape.

Harish Jonnalagadda navigates the intricate Asian smartphone industry, having previously written about PC hardware. Outside of gadgets, he can be found reading on his Kindle, tackling his Steam backlog, and cheerfully lamenting Arsenal's ongoing struggles.

Michael, a former ebook dev turned tech writer, has journeyed from VR to wearables, emerging tech, and now Android. In his downtime, he roots for sports teams that let him down, enjoys D&D and Star Wars RPG campaigns, and relishes long runs. Michael prides himself on only recommending products he would personally use.

Andrew, a talented contributor, is always ready to discuss sports, UFC, and the latest tech releases. When he's not tweeting, he can be found rewatching Star Wars for the umpteenth time.

Namerah Saud Fatmi adds her passion for tech and gaming to our diverse roster as an Editor and Writer. With a lifelong dedication to goodreads and stray cats, she's a valuable asset to the team.

Nandika Ravi, our news editor, brings her expertise in multimedia reporting and editing to Tech Radar from Rogers Sports and Media. Outside of breaking tech news, she enjoys exploring cafes, hiking with her boxer dog, and leveling up in the gaming universe.

Our plucky freelance contributors

Our website boasts a talented pool of freelance writers who contribute to the site's success. These contributors produce a variety of articles, from daily news pieces and extended news analysis to reviews and e-commerce articles. Our freelancers are held to the same high editorial standards and integrity when crafting their pieces.

Our testing approach

We take great pride in reviewing the products and services we rate, dedicating countless hours to testing everything from smartphones to smart home devices. We strive to share our passion and convey our expertise in our reviews, aiming to provide accurate, honest, and reliable insights.

We do not receive compensation for reviews and do not permit brands to have pre-publication access or input into our review process—all content is drafted independent of brand influence.

You can read more about how we test devices and why we're a trusted source.

Affiliate and advertising disclosure

We're committed to connecting you with the best products and services for your needs at competitive prices. Within our editorial content, we often provide links to products and services on retailer sites, for which we may receive compensation—called an affiliate fee—when you click on those links or make purchases through them. This fee does not impact the price you pay for the product or service.

Our expert editorial teams approach product and service selections based on their unbiased, expert judgement and relevance to our readers' needs, not on the interests or commercial agreements of retailers.

The product widgets you see in some of our articles are powered by our software solution, Hawk, which pulls real-time product and price information from thousands of retailers. We strive to ensure the most up-to-date information is displayed. Occasionally, a retailer may update their prices before our ads are updated. Retailers may also add delivery or other costs to purchases; please visit the retailer's site for more information. The affiliate fees we receive help us to continue developing Hawk and cover our operating costs.

We also run advertising on our websites, which are clearly labeled and distinguishable from our editorial articles. From time to time, we also publish paid-for editorial content. This content is labeled, showcasing the sponsor and how it was created. You can find a complete guide to content funding on our website here. Our terms and conditions apply to your use of our sites right here.
