Illicit liquor, Magic Moonshine Gold, makes a return, now aiming for a landing on Earth
The Mission to Earthphase - Moonshine Gold watch, a limited edition timepiece from the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection, was released exclusively in selected Swatch stores worldwide on August 9, 2025. This special day coincided with the full Sturgeon Moon, making the release even more significant.
This watch boasts a 42mm navy Bioceramic case, unique to this model, providing durability and a deep space aesthetic. The dial features white opaline with luminous markers for visibility in low light.
Two innovative celestial complications set this watch apart. An Earthphase indicator at 10 o’clock shows how Earth appears from the Moon, following a 29.5-day lunar cycle but in reverse, reflecting the Earth as seen from the lunar surface. A Moonphase indicator at 2 o’clock features two radiant full moons coated in Omega’s proprietary Moonshine™ Gold, including a moon wrapped in a net pattern nodding to the Sturgeon Moon’s fishing origin.
The seconds hand is coated in Moonshine™ Gold, and the watch is powered by a quartz movement, with both celestial complications operating on a 29.5-day cycle running in opposite directions.
Unique artwork beneath the Earthphase indicator depicts Snoopy and Woodstock in space gear gazing at Earth, with a hidden UV-reactive phrase from a 1969 Peanuts comic strip — "I beat everybody." The strap is a navy rubber strap with VELCRO® closure and a Bioceramic loop, enhancing comfort and style.
The glass is in biosourced material with an "S" engraved in the center, and the battery cover has an Earth-inspired graphic. The case thickness is 13.75 mm, and the water resistance is 3 bar.
With a retail price of approximately $400 USD (or S$535 in Singapore), this watch has been popular with collectors due to its limited availability, distinctive Moonshine Gold accents, and the playful Snoopy and Woodstock design linking to space exploration heritage.
The Mission to Earthphase - Moonshine Gold watch is crafted from Bioceramic, a patented mix of ceramic and biosourced materials from castor oil. The dial features the OMEGA X Swatch, Speedmaster, and MoonSwatch logos. The strap is a navy VELCRO rubber strap with a navy Bioceramic loop. The case, crown, and pushers are made of navy Bioceramic. The lug-to-lug distance is 47.30 mm.
