Hyundai Ioniq 9 Unveiled: 800-Volt EV Offers 620km Range, 24-Min Charge
Hyundai has unveiled the Ioniq 9, an electric vehicle (EV) boasting impressive charging capabilities and range. The cars display real-time charging data in the cockpit, offering drivers unprecedented control and confidence.
The Ioniq 9's standout feature is its 800-volt architecture, double the voltage of most EVs. This enables faster charging, with the cars able to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes at a suitable DC charger, reaching peak powers of up to 240 kW.
High-voltage technology not only speeds up charging but also reduces heat generation and saves weight on cables, increasing overall efficiency. The Ioniq 9's battery has a net capacity of 100 kilowatt-hours, providing up to 620 kilometers of range according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP). Even at a constant speed of 130 km/h on the highway, the Ioniq 9 retains over 400 kilometers of range. To build trust and enable better planning, the Ioniq 9 displays charging power values in the cockpit, including charging curve, voltage, and current strength.
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 combines impressive range and rapid charging capabilities with a powerful performance of up to 326 PS. Its real-time charging display provides drivers with valuable information, enhancing their charging experience and overall confidence in the vehicle.
