Hydrogen Germany Urges Swift Action for Hydrogen Tech Rollout
Hydrogen Germany, a collective of prominent companies, has urged the government to swiftly act and support the rollout of hydrogen technology. The alliance, comprising key players like SEFE, Uniper, and OGE, seeks to establish Germany as a global leader in the hydrogen economy, ensuring energy security and preserving industrial jobs.
Dr. Hans Dieter Hermes of SEFE has demanded pragmatic regulation and a faster implementation of hydrogen projects. Susanne Thole from Uniper echoed this, stressing the necessity of hydrogen for the energy transition and the need for clear framework conditions. The alliance, Hydrogen Germany, unites leading companies along the entire value chain to actively shape the hydrogen economy's ramp-up in Germany.
Thomas Huwener of OGE highlighted the importance of the hydrogen core network and plans for further projects across borders. The main political demands of the alliance to the new federal government include simplifying and accelerating approval processes, digitalizing procedures, and designating hydrogen infrastructure as being of overriding public interest. This is to enable faster market entry and infrastructure build-up, supported by clear deadlines and comprehensive guidelines covering the entire hydrogen supply chain.
Hydrogen Germany emphasizes that clear political framework conditions, swift approvals, and reliable financing models are crucial for Germany to become a hydrogen nation. The success of the hydrogen economy depends on political decisions, with the alliance seeing an urgent need for action. Germany's ambition to achieve industry-neutral carbon neutrality further underscores the importance of hydrogen in its energy mix.
