Huawei's 'Master-Tuning Method' Challenges European Dominance in Automotive Audio

Huawei, a global leader in technology, is revolutionising automotive audio engineering with its advanced 'master-tuning method'. This innovative approach challenges the historical dominance of European brands in this field.

At the heart of this innovation lies independent sound-zone technology, the most complex feature requiring real-time calculations and digital signal processing (DSP) adjustments. To handle these computations, Huawei employs a robust cloud computing infrastructure that processes variables and runs simulations beyond the capabilities of local processing.

Huawei's Chief Automotive Sound & Acoustics Advisor, Lars Goller, leads the development of the 'master-tuning method'. This process involves audio measurements, listening sessions, and real-time adjustments based on various factors. The Shanghai Acoustics R&D Centre uses cloud computing to process massive acoustic datasets, run simulations, and enable real-time audio processing. The centre has three testing environments generating enormous volumes of measurement data, ensuring comprehensive and accurate tuning.

Huawei supplies solutions to over twenty automakers, covering driver assistance, cockpit and control systems, and acoustics. The company's significant investment in research and development, with CNY 179.7 billion in 2024 and CNY 60 billion targeting fundamental science research, underlines its commitment to innovation in this sector.

Huawei's 'master-tuning method' is set to reshape automotive audio engineering, offering a competitive edge to automakers. With its advanced technology, cloud computing infrastructure, and substantial investment in R&D, Huawei is poised to challenge the traditional European dominance in this field.
