Honda Unveils New Prelude GT500 for 2026 Japanese Super GT
Honda has revealed a new racing car for the 2026 Japanese Super GT Championship, based on the Prelude model. The Prelude GT500, developed by Mugen, aims to replicate the success of its predecessor, the Civic, and the legendary NSX-GT.
The Prelude GT500 is the only new car in the 2026 season, set to compete against the likes of the Toyota Supra GT500 and the Nissan Z Nismo GT500. It features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine, generating around 650 horsepower, paired with a sequential six-speed transmission. The car's rear wheels are the only ones driven.
Visually, the Prelude GT500 is reminiscent of previous DTM racing cars due to shared ClassOne regulations. It boasts a carbon monocoque and carbon fiber laminate body, with aerodynamics pushing the regulations to their limit.
The Prelude GT500, developed by Mugen and unveiled by Honda's racing department HRC, is set to make its debut in the 2026 Japanese Super GT Championship. With its powerful engine, advanced construction, and aggressive aerodynamics, the Prelude GT500 aims to make a significant impact in its class.
