Hitachi to Transform Welsh Public Transport with Seamless Digital Booking System
Hitachi has been chosen by Transport for Wales (TfW) to revolutionize public transport in Wales. Over the next five years, Hitachi will deliver a multimodal digital booking system, enabling seamless journeys across various transport modes.
Hitachi, renowned for its digital expertise in Japan and Italy, will develop a bespoke Mobility as a Service (MaaS) product tailored to Wales' needs. This system will handle multimodal ticketing transactions, drawing from Hitachi's experience managing 50 million such transactions daily.
The digital booking system will be accessible via a user-friendly app, integrating rail, local bus, fflecsi, TrawsCymru services, micromobility, and demand-based mobility solutions. It will allow customers to plan and book journeys effortlessly, improving overall customer experience and encouraging more people to use public transport.

The multimodal digital booking system, leveraging Hitachi's global expertise, is expected to roll out over the next five years, bringing Wales' public transport into the digital age.
