Hindsight Software Hosts Webinar on SBOMs for Software Developers
Hindsight Software is hosting a webinar on 20th March 2025 to educate software developers, regulatory affairs specialists, and medical device manufacturers about Software Bill of Materials (SBOMs) and their role in cyber security. Titled 'Software Supply Chain: Know Your SBOMs from Your SOUP', the webinar is scheduled for 12:30pm GMT.
SBOMs are detailed lists of all components and their versions used within a software product. They enhance transparency and security by enabling the identification of vulnerable components. This was particularly highlighted after the Log4j vulnerability incident in 2021. The webinar will cover what an SBOM is, how to create one, and its necessary components.
Organizations running software need SBOMs to apply patches to affected components and remain compliant with software licences. The webinar aims to explain the role of SBOMs, contrast them with SOUP, and discuss their importance in software engineering processes. SBOMs also record the different licences under which each component of the software is released. The webinar will also discuss how SBOMs help meet industry regulations and standards for cybersecurity awareness in medical devices.
The requirement for SBOMs has increased due to growing cyber security challenges and regulatory demands in the medical device supply chain. The webinar, developed by Coauthor, aims to equip attendees with the knowledge to navigate these challenges effectively.
