Govt. Actions and Announcements (June 28, 2025) - Real-time overview of the government's activities and declarations from June 28, 2025.

In a significant development, the agriculture and allied sectors in India have witnessed steady growth over the past decade, according to the latest report released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on June 27, 2025. The Gross Value of Output (GVO) from these sectors has increased from ₹1,908 thousand crore in 2011-12 to ₹2,949 thousand crore in 2023-24, marking an overall growth of approximately 54.6%.

Floriculture, in particular, has experienced significant growth, nearly doubling from ₹17.4 thousand crore in 2011-12 to ₹28.1 thousand crore in 2023-24. The crop sector, with a GVO of ₹1,595 thousand crore, remains the largest contributor to the total GVO of agriculture and allied sectors, accounting for 54.1% in 2023-24. Among the cereals, paddy and wheat constitute approximately 85% of GVO at constant prices.

Five States, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Telangana, and Haryana, contributed nearly 53% of GVO (at constant prices) of cereals in 2023-24. Potato remains the top-most contributor in GVO (at constant prices) of the vegetable group during 2011-12 to 2023-24.

Meanwhile, in a move to engage more young people with government services and programs, the WhatsApp chatbot integration with the MY Bharat portal has been launched. This innovative initiative provides a highly accessible, user-friendly digital interface for Indian youth to interact with the MY Bharat platform directly through WhatsApp, India's most popular messaging app.

Key benefits of this integration include convenient and mobile-first access, enhanced engagement and participation, streamlined service delivery, and promoting civic duty and nation-building. The platform offers features such as experiential learning programs, volunteering opportunities, CV creation, mentorship, organization joining/creation, issue reporting, and support.

Moreover, scientists at the Raman Research Institute (RRI) have identified a novel use of teak (Tectona grandis) leaf extract as a natural, biodegradable laser shield, offering exciting possibilities for future research and applications.
