Glashütte Original's latest chronograph pays tribute to the fashion of the 1970s with a limited-edition release
In an exciting turn of events, luxury watchmaker Glashütte Original is set to make its debut at Watch Week Aspen 2025, marking the brand's first participation in the prestigious event. The occasion also serves as a celebration for the 10th anniversary of Glashütte Original's Seventies line, a tribute to the style of watches from the 1970s.
The North American Exclusive Seventies 'X' Chronograph, priced at $17,900, is a limited-edition timepiece, with only 100 models available. The watch boasts a 40mm square "TV-case" in stainless steel, a nod to the iconic design of the 1970s. The white lacquer dial, paired with black subdials in a "panda" style, is accented by red details, such as the '10' on the 30-minute counter and the stop-second chronograph's red hand.
The Seventies 'X' Chronograph is powered by Glashütte Original's in-house Calibre 37-02 automatic column-wheel chronograph movement, which offers a 70-hour power reserve on the small-second subdial. The watch also includes Glashütte Original's Panorama Date and a column-wheel flyback function, as well as both a 30-minute display and a 12-hour display.
The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters, features a sapphire crystal front and back, and comes with a stainless steel integrated bracelet, as well as an additional black rubber strap resembling a car tire. It is exclusively available at North American retailers.
The watch week, scheduled to run from August 7 to 10 in Colorado, sees the participation of 16 other brands, including A. Lange & Söhne, Audemars Piguet, IWC, and Omega.
Omega, who had a significant presence at Wimbledon this year, is also participating in Watch Week Aspen 2025. Celebrities like Andrew Garfield and Eddie Redmayne were spotted wearing De Ville Trésor and Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades respectively during the tennis tournament. It is possible that Glashütte Original's latest launch could be worn by a celebrity in the near future.
