Future embodied in New Dalwigk: Robots to take over kitchen duties
In the heart of G's "Das Dalwigk" quarter, a press conference was held today to announce an exciting new development. Secura, a nationwide company with over 26 years of experience and 1,000 employees, is launching a lighthouse project named "Secura Smart Catering."
The innovative gastronomy concept, which features a restaurant where a cooking robot prepares dishes fresh and fully automatically, will be integrated directly into the dining room of the Secura Smart Catering project in Dalwigk. Despite the modern technology, the interior of the project will be historically designed, reminiscent of the history of Dalwigk.
Tan Alcay, owner of Secura and the gastronome for the project, has extensive experience in gastronomy management, including in the industrial sector. Alcay, who developed the robot with a founder from the "brigk," understands the skepticism surrounding the use of robots in gastronomy but is convinced that this is the future of the industry.
The robot station will be visible but nearly silent, allowing diners to enjoy their meals without disturbance. The system works with 36 silos filled with fresh ingredients, and orders can be placed via app or on-site.
Michael Süßmeier, a gastronomy consultant, praised the Secura Smart Catering concept, stating that the food quality was impressive. The project will also feature a large coffee bar with barista quality, show cooking with top chefs, cocktail courses, wine tastings, and other weekend events.
Cooperation with local start-ups and the university is part of the plan to further develop the technology. Secura Smart Catering will be expanding nationwide, with up to 50 locations planned for clinics, care facilities, universities, and industry.
Mayor Dr. Michael Kern expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating that it fits perfectly in the location. INKo-Bau managing director Nikola Fall emphasized that this is gastronomy "for the broader society," which would not be possible without digital solutions.
The Secura Smart Catering project is intended as a support for staff, not a replacement. It's a step towards embracing technology to improve efficiency and service, while still maintaining the human touch that makes dining out a special experience.
