Meiller, a leading manufacturer in container handling systems and tipping bodies, has unveiled a redesigned generation of tipping bodies specifically for chassis with a permissible total weight ranging from 3.5 to 41 tonnes. The new design aims to improve robustness, payload capacity, and operational efficiency.

The redesigned tipping bodies include 3-way tippers made primarily from high-strength materials like Hardox steel, which is laser-welded to optimize weight without sacrificing strength. Key features of the new bodies include raised bulkheads, fold-down steel side walls, and center articulation points on heavy-duty designs for better load handling and tipping dynamics.

Specific models support diverse applications with configurable dimensions. For instance, a body dimension of approximately 4000x2350x400 mm with a raised bulkhead of about 700 mm for higher containment of materials is available for certain designs. Payload capacities vary with chassis size, with up to approximately 951 kg on 3.5-tonne chassis and over 2.6 tonnes on 5.5-tonne chassis using this technology.

The benefits of Meiller's redesigned tipping bodies include weight optimization through the use of laser-welding technology and high-strength steel materials, ensuring a higher payload without increasing vehicle weight unnecessarily. The three-way tipping capability increases flexibility in unloading operations and operational efficiency in work environments, especially construction and municipal services. Inclusion in certified programs, such as the MAN Certified Van Partner Program, confirms reliability, quality adherence, and warranty support, enhancing customer trust and reducing maintenance concerns.

The sturdy heavy-duty designs with features like center articulation and reinforced bulkheads provide enhanced durability and safety during tipping, especially for heavier loads and larger vehicle chassis.

Looking ahead, Meiller plans to further integrate lightweight, ultra-high-strength steels and advanced manufacturing techniques to push payload efficiency boundaries while maintaining structural integrity. Advances may also focus on smart on-board systems to monitor load and tipping operations, improve safety, and optimize maintenance schedules. In addition, the AK12-NT will no longer be welded but assembled using a modular screw system, allowing for faster exchange of defective or worn components.
