FKIE Unveils IDAS-Pro: A Game-Changer in Drone Detection and Neutralization

The Fraunhofer Institute for Communication, Information Processing and Ergonomics (FKIE) has unveiled IDAS-Pro, a cutting-edge system designed to detect, identify, and neutralize drones. This development comes amidst growing concerns about drone incursions at airports and potential targeted attacks on critical infrastructure by state actors.

IDAS-Pro is a comprehensive system that combines sensors, software for situational analysis, and defense options. It includes radio scanners, cameras, and radar sensors to detect drones, and jammers to disrupt the connection between the remote control and the drone. In case of intruders, IDAS-Pro deploys a special drone equipped with a net to capture them.

Private providers such as Dedrone, Aaronia, and Drone Defence offer similar systems for drone detection and neutralization. The interest in such technologies has been growing for years, driven by the increasing use of drones and the need to protect sensitive areas.

IDAS-Pro, developed by FKIE in Germany, is designed to prevent consumer drones from entering civilian no-fly zones. While it's not intended to counter military attacks, it's a significant step in enhancing security and protecting critical infrastructure from drone-related threats.
