Explored Google's Comic-Con Rewards Lab for the first time, immersing myself in four thrilling adventures
Google Offers Immersive Fantastic Four Experience at San Diego Comic-Con
Google is bringing the Marvel universe to San Diego Comic-Con with the Google Play Rewards Lab, an immersive experience inspired by Marvel's "The Fantastic Four: First Steps." The lab, which is part of this year's Comic-Con, offers unique experiences for both in-person and remote attendees.
The Rewards Lab features four distinct experiences, each themed around a member of the Fantastic Four. The first is the Stretch pod, modeled after Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), where visitors play a game controlling Mister Fantastic's stretched arms to catch Play Store rewards points. The second is the Force Field pod, inspired by Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman), where visitors manipulate cascading lights with their hands. The third is the Strength pod, based on Ben Grimm (The Thing), where visitors can simulate stomping on a digital display with their feet. The Fire pod, themed around Johnny Storm (Human Torch), allows visitors to create a video of themselves flying in the air and become part of a clip from the new Fantastic Four film.
In addition to these experiences, Google Play Points members can redeem their points for other exclusives such as a Fantastic Four Fan Pack, an enamel The Thing pin, a signed comic book, and a Citizen watch. The video created in the Fire pod can be previewed, sent to oneself, and shared with friends or on social media.
Monopoly Go!, a mobile game, is also part of the collaboration. Through its collaboration with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Monopoly Go! offers exclusive rewards and perks. These include Fantastic Four character tokens for Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing, collectible through themed minigames. The exclusive in-game reward for U.S. players is an exclusive The Thing Tea Emoji.
The event provides new Marvel-inspired Monopoly rewards like the Ultimate Nullifier artifact and special cosmetic drops, adding a superhero adventure flavor to classic Monopoly gameplay. The collaboration is part of a limited-time event running roughly through mid-July to early August 2025, coinciding with the film's release and includes both free-to-play access and optional in-app purchases.
The Google Play Rewards Lab is an extension of last year's Ferris wheel setup at San Diego Comic-Con, offering a fun and interactive way for fans to engage with Google and the Fantastic Four. The first experience, the Stretch pod, is available until August 4, making it a must-visit for all Comic-Con attendees.
During their time at San Diego Comic-Con, attendees can explore the Google Play Rewards Lab, a Marvel-themed zone that includes immersive gadgets such as the Stretch pod and the Fire pod. These interactive experiences, inspired by characters like Mister Fantastic and Human Torch, allow participants to engage with smartphones and other technology, offering a unique blend of entertainment and movies-and-tv within the fantasy world of the Fantastic Four.
