"Explore Three Fascinating Video Platforms Similar to Vine and Instagram Video on Vimeo"
In a move to strengthen its position in the mobile video sharing and editing market, Vimeo has announced the acquisition of two popular apps - Cameo and Echograph.
Cameo, a video-editing app for iPhone users, has been tagged as one of the 'Best of 2013' video apps by Apple developers. The app empowers novice video-makers to create beautiful, well-crafted videos with ease. It offers features such as editing videos with title cards, video overlays, and other effects. After the acquisition, Cameo has become free to use, saving iPhone users storage space and preserving battery life by saving edited videos to Cameo's cloud server.
Echograph, a unique GIF-making video sharing app, allows users to animate a portion of a video while leaving the rest as a still shot. Users can 'paint' over a portion of the video to choose what to animate, making it a versatile tool for creating engaging and dynamic content. This app was previously available only on iOS devices, but following the acquisition, it is expected to be made available on other platforms as well.
Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor stated that the acquisitions are part of Vimeo's strategy to drive the largest wave of video creation ever seen. He reiterated Vimeo's commitment to empowering all creators by providing them with the tools they need to create and share their videos.
With these acquisitions, Vimeo now has three mobile video sharing apps, joining its existing mobile app that allows high-resolution streaming video sharing and editing, and enables users to share videos on the Vimeo network and other social networks. Paid plans on Vimeo's mobile app start at $9.95 per month, offering more HD uploads and customized video players.
However, it is worth noting that there are upload limitations to Vimeo's basic account, making the paid plans an attractive option for users with higher video upload requirements.
The acquisition of Cameo and Echograph follows a TechCrunch report in February that Echograph was acquired by Vimeo. Despite extensive searches, no relevant information could be found about which company acquired the app Cameo in March 2018.
Vimeo's expansion into the mobile video editing market is a strategic move to capitalize on the growing trend of video content consumption and creation. With these acquisitions, Vimeo is well-positioned to meet the needs of creators and consumers alike, offering a comprehensive suite of tools for video sharing, editing, and creation.
