Experience virtual shopping with Google's AI feature, 'Try On', now available for US users within Google Search
Google has announced the launch of a new feature in its AI Mode, available in Search, Google Shopping, and Images, that allows users to virtually try on clothes and find interior design inspiration. The update, powered by the Gemini AI model, was fully rolled out on July 1, 2025, and has been widely promoted with new interactive elements.
The "Try On" feature, initially in experimental stage in Google Labs, is now fully available. Users can upload a full-length photo of themselves to virtually try on clothes, with AI generating an image of what they would look like if they had the clothes on. This feature not only allows users to experiment with new styles but also enables them to save their favorites or share their virtual wardrobe with others.
In addition to the "Try On" feature, Google is introducing a "track price" button for clothes. This feature allows users to set a price threshold, colour, and size for price alert notifications, helping them keep track of falling prices for specific clothing items.
The outfit and interior design inspiration capabilities are powered by the Vision Match software. For interior design, the enhanced Search function in AI Mode will provide bedroom design ideas and more. AI Mode's upcoming update is expected to help users match their outfit of choice with the occasion.
Google's AI Mode update was announced during Google I/O 2025 earlier in the year and started testing before the full rollout. The update deployed Gemini 2.5 AI models and incorporated new features across Google's ecosystem, including design inspirations through conversational AI within Search.
Users should keep an eye out for a more official announcement regarding AI Mode's updated features. The "Try On" feature is expected to appear in Search results starting July 24, but may take some time to become widely available. For those interested in fashion and interior design inspiration, the upcoming features for AI Mode are not part of today's (July 24) update but are expected to be introduced in a future update.
