Expands Delivery of Enphase Energy's IQ EV Charger 2 in Europe
The technology landscape is evolving, and so is the world of electric vehicles (EVs). Enphase Energy, a leading name in the solar and battery sector, has unveiled its latest offering - the IQ EV Charger 2. This smart charger is designed to work seamlessly with Enphase solar and battery systems or as a standalone charger.
Jayant Somani, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the digital business unit at Enphase Energy, emphasised the focus on performance, safety, and reliability in the design of the IQ EV Charger 2.
A Charger with Smart Capabilities
The IQ EV Charger 2 is equipped with built-in hardware and software to support AC bidirectional charging. This feature opens up potential vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications.
In standalone charger installations in Europe, the charger integrates with smart electricity meters, such as the Linky meter in France, through a USB connection. This integration enables dynamic load balancing, a feature that adjusts the EV charging rate based on the total home consumption.
The dynamic load balancing ensures efficient energy management, reducing strain on the grid during peak hours. It optimises the charging process by using real-time data from the Linky meter, aligning the EV charging with the household's energy generation, particularly when integrated with solar and battery systems.
Additional Features
The IQ EV Charger 2 supports both single-phase and three-phase wiring, with configurable power up to 32 A per phase. It also boasts AI-powered optimization for smart charging decisions. The charger comes with a 7.5-meter cable and features a rugged Type 2 connector compatible with the majority of EVs sold in Europe.
The charger's enclosure is IP55-rated, making it weatherproof and safe for indoor and outdoor installations. It is available in both socketed and tethered variants.
Expanding Horizons
The expansion of the IQ EV Charger 2 to more European countries is part of Enphase's growth strategy. The charger has recently been launched in 14 European markets, including Greece, Romania, Ireland, and Poland.
Homeowners are increasingly demanding an intelligent, integrated charging technology, and Enphase Energy aims to meet this demand with the IQ EV Charger 2. The charger is officially certified to meet key values of performance, safety, and reliability.
In France, the IQ EV Charger 2 has received the EV READY certification, allowing it to integrate with the Linky meter. This certification is a testament to Enphase's commitment to bringing comprehensive energy management solutions to dynamic European markets.
