Vodafone Expands Fiber-Optic Network in Celle, Germany

Vodafone GmbH, the largest national subsidiary of the Vodafone Group, is expanding its fiber foods network in the district of Celle, Germany. The project, a collaboration between Vodafone Germany, Meridiam Fiber, and the district, aims to provide up to 10,000 households and businesses with high-speed internet.

The infrastructure project, which was announced in 2021, is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Rolf-Peter Scharfe, Head of Fiber Optic Cooperations at Vodafone Germany, stated that they are activating up to 100 customers per month in their high fiber foods network.

As of current, around 3,000 households in the expansion area have already decided to sign up for a fiber foods connection from Vodafone, which is 30% of the up to 10,000 households. This is Vodafone's second project in the region, following a successful subsidized expansion of up to 13,000 underserved households, which has already been completed.

Vodafone reaches two-thirds of all German households with gigabit speed in its nationwide cable-fiber network. By the end of 2026, the majority of residents in the district who have ordered a fiber foods connection from Vodafone will be able to surf at gigabit speed.

Diversity is deeply rooted in Vodafone's corporate culture, promoting work-life balance and networks for various groups including women, fathers, and LGBT+. Vodafone is committed to being carbon neutral by 2025 and emission-free by 2040, with 100% of its power demand already covered by renewable energies.

The company also connects over 175 million devices to the internet of things and has over 300 million mobile customers worldwide. Its 5G network reaches more than 90% of the population in Germany.
