Event Focused on Eco-Friendly AI: The 3rd Green AI Day on September 25 Gathers AI Industry Pioneers with a Focus on Sustainability

The Stuttgart region is set to host the highly anticipated Green Event BW on September 25, 2025, at Club Perkins Park, Stuttgart-North. This event, previously known as the Green AI Day, is a testament to the region's commitment to sustainability and its leadership in the field of Green AI.

Dr. Sarah Schuhbauer, project leader for information technology at WRS, highlights the excellent conditions for Green AI in the Stuttgart region. The region is home to more than 40% of AI projects that are sustainable, making it one of the top regions in Germany in this field.

The event is a joint press release by the State Capital Stuttgart and Economic Development Region Stuttgart GmbH. Notable experts have been invited for the subsequent keynotes, including Markus Beckedahl (netzpolitik.org), Nadine Clarke (Tangent), Katharina Hopp (Climate Innovation Council Stuttgart), and Prof. Dr. André Reichel (International School of Management, WRS).

Regional start-ups will present their business ideas in the field of Green AI. Novon, for instance, will showcase their sustainable power stations, while Variolytics will present their AI software for climate-neutral sewage treatment plants.

Between the keynotes, visitors can participate in six interactive break-out sessions with various companies, universities, research institutions, and associations. Topics include shaping AI sustainably, AI with impact in industry, Europe becoming a competitive AI location, AI changes learning, regulation meets practice, and AI for tomorrow's administration.

The Stuttgart region boasts a funding volume of around 47 million euros for Green AI, making it a leader nationwide. Innovative hardware solutions, such as semiconductor technology, quantum technology, and (cognitive) robotics, are key to improving energy efficiency in AI applications and data centers.

Quantum technology, which can increase AI system performance, is a focus area in the Stuttgart region. Research and development in Stuttgart are particularly focused on e-mobility, autonomous driving, energy-efficient production, and emission reduction in road traffic using AI.

The region is also well-positioned in terms of social and ethical dimensions for Green AI technologies. A focus on fair access, data protection, transparency, and ethical responsibility ensures that AI developments in the region align with societal values.

Michael Kleiner, Ministerial Director of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor, and Tourism of Baden-Württemberg, will lead the welcoming dialogue. The dialogue will also be attended by Michael Kaiser, Managing Director of the Economic Development Corporation Region Stuttgart GmbH, Konstantin Schneider, Innovation Team Leader at the Economic Development of the State Capital Stuttgart, and Samira Djidjeh, Community Manager for the Region Stuttgart at the AI Alliance Baden-Württemberg.
