Greenlane, a joint venture between Daimler Truck, NextEra Energy, and BlackRock, is moving forward with the development of a second commercial electric vehicle (EV) charging corridor. This new corridor will connect Southern California to Phoenix via Interstate 10, and is part of a broader strategy to develop a nationwide network.
Timeline and Key Details
The project was announced in August 2025, with Greenlane establishing its second commercial EV charging corridor supported by a strategic partnership with EV truck maker and OEM Windrose Technology [1][2]. The hope is that the charging sites along the I-10 corridor will be operational by the end of 2026 [2].
The corridor includes the recently opened flagship Greenlane Center in Colton, California, and new sites to be developed in Blythe, California, and Greater Phoenix, Arizona [1][4]. The new sites will accommodate megawatt charging stations, as the trucks are expected to come out the following year.
Partnerships and Customers
The project is supported by partnerships with Windrose Technology and electric truck carriers like Nevoya [1][4]. Windrose plans significant electric truck manufacturing in 2026 and 2027, which will utilize Greenlane’s charging infrastructure [1].
Charging Infrastructure
All chargers will be accessible to the public with a charging fee based on a per kWh rate, varying by region and time of day. Fleets can secure reduced rates through subscriptions and agreements with Greenlane [2].
Windrose trucks can take an intake of about 800 kilowatt-hours per hour at Greenlane's sites by using two CCS chargers. This capability was demonstrated in successful single-charge journeys from Colton to Phoenix [5].
Practicality of Electric Long-Haul Trucking
Achieving nearly 300 miles with a GCWR of 74,420 pounds on a single charge with 12% battery left was cited as proof of the practicality of electric long-haul trucking [6]. Windrose Technology's founder and CEO, Wen Han, stated that electric long-haul trucking has proven real-world performance [5].
Patrick Macdonald-King, CEO of Greenlane, stated that the central location of the Colton facility allows trucks to get a full charge without range anxiety [3]. Greenlane's Colton location is also the anchor for the first EV corridor, connecting Southern California to Las Vegas via the I-15 corridor.
Forward-Thinking Infrastructure
Greenlane is implementing forward-thinking infrastructure that can accommodate megawatt charging as technology becomes available. At its Colton facility, Greenlane deployed "Trenwa" tunneling throughout the site, allowing for cable upgrades without trenching [7].
Greenlane has entered into a strategic partnership with Windrose Technology, and is working with partners like Navistar and others on the new corridor [1]. The new EV charging corridor will support Nevoya, an electric trucking company operating battery-electric trucks along both the I-10 and I-15 corridors.
Greenlane is focusing on getting the new corridor going, with a probable opening in 2026. Two locations are expected to service the new corridor by the end of 2026 [7].
