The My Identity App (MIA), developed by the Austrian high-security company OeSD, has secured second place in the Europe-wide "Privacy via IT Security App Competition" organized by the MAPPING project. This achievement is a testament to OeSD's innovative power in digital security.
MIA is a unique security solution designed to offer users secure and anonymized control over their digital identities. The app empowers users with a **digital identity management system** that provides a secure environment where users can manage their identity information without exposing personal data to third parties.
The app's security is achieved through various means, including the encryption of data in transit and at rest, the use of passwordless authentication technologies, user-centric identity models, and the incorporation of standards and protocols supported by groups aligned with cryptographic and privacy-preserving technologies.
MIA offers users qualified anonymity for the first time, with only necessary data being released depending on its use. For instance, age verification for age protection is an example of this feature in action. Data is not stored on the smartphone but accessed from central registers in MIA, eliminating the need to carry physical documents.
The OeSD Group, one of Europe's leading providers of comprehensive identity management solutions, serves and supports customers in more than 60 countries worldwide. The MIA app is the logical next step in secure identity documents, developed by the same company that produces high-security identity documents, including passports with chip and biometric security features.
Mag. Lukas Praml, CEO of OeSD, views this achievement as a significant milestone for the company. "We are thrilled to have our My Identity App recognised at such a prestigious competition," he said. "This win is a testament to our commitment to digital security and user privacy."
The MIA app has already garnered numerous national and international inquiries and was introduced to the public in Vienna in November 2015. It is currently making waves at the CeBIT in Hannover.
