Epstein, reportedly, poured $40 million into a firm established along with Thiel as the co-founder

In a recent development, a search of 2025 data has revealed no publicly documented evidence of a financial relationship between tech billionaire Peter Thiel and the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, as reported by The New York Times in 2023.

Despite previous reports suggesting Thiel's association with Epstein and his co-founded company, Valar Ventures, receiving investments from Epstein in 2015 and 2016, the search results do not contain any direct information from The New York Times or other credible sources confirming this connection.

Valar Ventures, named after a creature from J.R.R. Tolkien's mythos, is a venture capital firm that has been involved in numerous technology and science projects. The investment from Epstein, now worth approximately $170 million, was made not long before Epstein's death in 2019.

Epstein, known for his business relationships with powerful and influential figures, was reportedly attempting to rehabilitate his image after his 2008 conviction for procuring a child for prostitution. Some speculated that he was positioning himself as a money manager for the tech elite.

Gizmodo reached out to Valar Ventures and Mr. Thiel through his company Palantir for comment, but as of now, no response has been received. The report from The New York Times is based on a confidential financial analysis from Epstein's estate and a statement from a Valar spokesman.

It's important to note that many other figures in tech, including Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergei Brin, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, and Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, have been questioned about their ties to Epstein.

As this story develops, we will continue to monitor and update our findings. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
