Deutsche Telekom is accelerating its mobile network expansion in the Mansfeld-South Harz district to meet the increasing demand for bandwidth. The company plans to add seven new sites over the next three years, with a focus on rural and suburban locations.

The expansion includes upgrading existing 4G and 5G sites, installing new 5G base stations, and investing in fiber-optic connections to mobile antennas. This move aims to improve coverage, network capacity, and data speeds in the region.

Currently, Deutsche Telekom operates 86 mobile network sites in the Mansfeld-South Harz district, supporting Advanced Mobile Location (AML) emergency call technology and the Cell Broadcast warning system. One LTE site has been added in the past four weeks, and the expansion of 18 sites with LTE or 5G is also planned.

The expansion has already improved mobile internet coverage in the district to 91%, with 99% of households now benefiting from fast mobile coverage. Interested parties can offer a site for a roof or mast location by contacting Deutsche Funkturm at www.dfmg.de/standortangebot.

Georg von Wagner, spokesperson for Deutsche Telekom, stated that the bandwidth demand is increasing by around 30% per year. The company's mobile network sites in the district, built by Deutsche Funkturm, also support emergency calls and warnings at all sites in the expanded network.

In addition to the danger alerts sent by Cell Broadcast, such as in case of large fires, gas explosions, or floods, AML automatically transmits the caller's location to the emergency control center during calls to 112. This feature ensures quick and effective emergency response.

Landlords of new sites receive a long-term, location-appropriate rent, and the expansion has already improved coverage along the Thuringia-West railway line. This network expansion aligns with Deutsche Telekom’s broader strategy to provide high-speed, reliable mobile connectivity across Germany, supporting digital transformation and economic development in both urban and rural areas.
