"ENCO Set to Unveil DoCaption EN848 Closed Caption Encoder at NAB Show New York"
The upcoming 2024 NAB Show New York, scheduled for October 9-10 at the Jacob Javits Center, will see the debut of a significant new product. ENCO, a leading provider of media production and playout solutions, will be presenting its first closed-caption encoder, the DoCaption EN848.
The EN848 is a closed-caption encoder that has been purpose-built to natively pair with ENCO's enCaption system. It is designed to reliably insert closed captions from any downstream source, ensuring broadcasters maintain compliance with global captioning standards.
One of the standout features of the EN848 is its dual connectivity options. This feature allows for redundant captioning workflows with immediate failover from cloud to on-prem if the network temporarily goes dark. This ensures a seamless and uninterrupted captioning process for broadcasters.
The EN848 also offers broadcasters a single source of support, removing the need for a third-party device. It conforms to a broad range of closed-captioning specifications, including CEA-608/CEA-708 and Teletext/OP47 ancillary data, making it a versatile solution for various broadcasting needs.
Beyond compliance and reliability, the EN848 was developed with bigger aspirations. It positions ENCO upstream with a truly native solution, pairing the speed and accuracy of enCaption's automatic conversion with a reliable 1RU solution.
Broadcasters can deploy the EN848 over their IP network and connect to cloud-based captioning services like those offered by ENCO partner VITAC. This flexibility allows broadcasters to leverage the benefits of cloud-based services while maintaining the reliability of a physical encoder.
The DoCaption EN848 is now shipping and available separately or as part of ENCO's enCaption system. With its debut at the 2024 NAB Show New York, ENCO is set to make a significant impact in the world of closed captioning.
