Tesla CEO Elon Musk Bids Farewell to President Trump with a Black Eye
Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a surprising appearance at the White House on Friday, sporting a prominent black eye. According to Musk, the injury was inflicted playfully by his five-year-old son, X Æ A-Xii, whom he affectionately calls "Little X."
During a casual conversation with a reporter in the Oval Office, Musk narrated a playful moment, "I was playing around with little X, and I said, 'Come on, hit me in the face.' And he did."
President Donald Trump, who was present during the explanation, seemed taken aback and commented, "Oh yeah, he can do that," before admitting, "I didn't even notice the black eye before."
Prior to his statement, Musk couldn't resist taking a dig at French President Emmanuel Macron. Musk joked about his recent absence from France, laughing, "I wasn't even near France." Speculation followed, but Macron's entourage later reported that the presidential couple was simply letting off steam during the preliminary part of their state visit to Vietnam, Indonesia, and Singapore.
Musk announced on Wednesday that his role as a cost-cutter for the United States government was set to conclude. As a "special government employee," Musk is limited to a 130-day tenure under US rules. On Friday, he bid farewell to Washington at a press conference with Trump, receiving a golden key as a parting gift.
In his role, Musk was responsible forimplementing cutbacks in staff and expenditures across various ministries and agencies. His initial goal of saving $2 trillion was significantly missed, with calculations indicating that he only saved a minuscule portion of that amount, despite causing tens of thousands of job losses due to his radical cuts.
Musk will now redevote himself to his companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, as he navigates recent revenue losses and profit declines at Tesla and the failure of SpaceX's ninth test flight of the giant Starship rocket.
