Electric Kia EV4 undergoes rigorous mileage testing to prove battery durability
The Kia EV4, a new addition to Kia's electric vehicle lineup, has officially gone on sale in the UK. The EV4 is available in two stylish body styles - the Hatch and the Fastback Saloon, and it boasts three trim levels to cater to various preferences.
The Fastback Saloon, with its sleek design, is now available for purchase, starting from £40,895. For those seeking a more affordable option, the EV4 Hatch is priced from £34,695.
The new Kia EV4 is equipped with Kia's fourth-generation battery system, offering two battery options: a 58.3kWh and an 81.4kWh. The smaller battery promises a range of 273 miles, while the larger one promises an impressive 338 miles. However, with both batteries, the EV4 offers a maximum range of up to 391 miles, making it a strong competitor in the electric vehicle market.
Kia has put the EV4 through rigorous testing to ensure its durability and performance. The vehicle was subjected to a 68,000-mile European road durability test and a 6,200-mile test around the Nurburgring. These tests were designed to push the EV4 to its limits, and after testing, the EV4's battery showed a State of Health of 95%.
Stephan Hoferer from Hyundai's Motor Europe Technical Centre stated that the EV4's durability was validated in real-world and extreme environments. He further claimed that the EV4 delivers dependable performance well beyond everyday needs.
The Kia EV4 is equipped with a single 201bhp electric motor, promising responsive acceleration and smooth handling. This powertrain, coupled with the vehicle's aerodynamic design, makes the EV4 a formidable competitor in the electric vehicle segment.
The Kia EV4 Fastback Saloon enters the market competing with established players such as the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2. With its competitive pricing, impressive range, and robust performance, the Kia EV4 could make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.
The initial reveal of the Kia EV4 took place earlier this year, generating much anticipation among electric vehicle enthusiasts. Now, with the Fastback Saloon going on sale, that anticipation is turning into reality for UK consumers.
