DP World Breaks Records in Automotive Handling, Aligning with Dubai's Economic Vision

The automotive landscape is witnessing a significant shift towards electric vehicles (EVs), and this transition is mirrored in the booming figures at DP World's Dubai terminals. In 2024, the company processed a record-breaking 1.3 million vehicles, marking a staggering 53.6% increase from the previous year.

This strategic focus on automotive handling aligns with Dubai's D33 Economic Agenda, which aims to double the city's economy by 2033. Abdulla bin Damithan, the CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, emphasised Dubai's expanding role as a global automotive hub.

The majority of these vehicles were handled at Jebel Ali Port, which processed nearly 960,000 units. DP World's integrated logistics facilities, home to over 930 automotive and spare parts companies, play a significant role in supporting the global automotive supply chain. Jebel Ali Port and the Jafza free trade zone, integral parts of DP World's logistics facilities, are key components of Dubai's vision to become a strategic logistics hub.

China emerged as the top trading partner for DP World, contributing almost 25% of the total volume. Japan, Korea, and India were also key contributors to the volume of vehicles handled by DP World. Mina Al Hamriya and Mina Rashid also managed a portion of the vehicles.

DP World's commitment to infrastructure development underscores its position as a critical player in supporting sustainable mobility. The company is dedicated to developing advanced infrastructure to cater to the increasing demand in the automotive sector, positioning itself as a key player in the transition towards EVs.

Projections suggest that EVs will surpass internal combustion engine vehicles by 2036. As the world moves towards a more sustainable future, DP World's role in driving economic growth and innovation in the region is increasingly important. Dubai is creating new opportunities for itself as a strategic logistics hub due to these global supply chain changes.

In conclusion, DP World's record-breaking performance in 2024 underscores its position as a critical player in the global automotive industry. As the world shifts towards a more sustainable future, DP World is well-positioned to support this transition, contributing to Dubai's vision of becoming a strategic logistics hub.
