Drone Launch Incident Leads to Unknown Consequences for a 17-Year-Old Female from Belarus in Warsaw
In a recent incident on September 15, a drone was neutralized over government buildings on Belwederska and Parkowa streets in Warsaw. The drone flight in the restricted zone was linked to a security operation, likely aimed at surveillance or monitoring activities in that sensitive area.
According to reports, a 21-year-old Ukrainian citizen was found to be operating the drone. The individual admitted guilt and paid a fine of zł4,000 (approximately Br3,370) for violating air traffic rules. The Ukrainian was also charged under Article 212 of the 'Air Law' Act, which carries a potential penalty of up to five years imprisonment.
The Internal Security Agency conducted an investigation and found no evidence of espionage or work for foreign intelligence services. Similarly, there were no links to hostile entities established. Jakub Dobrzyński, the ministerial coordinator for special services press secretary, dismissed rumors of a spy operation, further confirming the Agency's findings.
The agency also ruled out any links to hostile entities. Border guards have decided to deport the Ukrainian citizen involved in the drone incident. A 17-year-old Belarusian, who was initially suspected of involvement, was questioned as a witness and later released.
It was suggested that the young people may have simply wanted to record video in Łazienkowski Park, located near the incident site. However, the drone's flight in a restricted zone and its proximity to government buildings raised security concerns.
The drone was seized for analysis of recordings and to determine the intentions of those involved. The Ukrainian will also be banned from entering Schengen countries for five years.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to air traffic regulations and the potential consequences of violating them. It also highlights the vigilance of Polish authorities in maintaining security in sensitive areas.
