Despite surpassing a year since Copilot+'s introduction, it remains exclusive to laptops equipped with suitable NPUs, and unfortunately, it seems the novelty has yet to increase overall appeal.

Despite a year's presence, Microsoft's Copilot+ has failed to pique my interest - though I find myself longing for one of its innovative features.

Despite being around for a year, Microsoft's Copilot+ doesn't spark my interest - yet I find myself yearning for one of its unique functionalities.

Let's chat about these fancy new laptops, and unavoidably, we ended up discussing ones using Snapdragon X chips.

Now, if I were purchasing a new laptop today, it'd only be one with Snapdragon tech inside. However, throughout the entire conversation, the idea these are all Copilot+ PCs never came up. I mean, how often does that pop up in conversation, right?

But afterwards, it hit me - I've been using Copilot+ for over a year without even noticing it. I've tested some compatible laptops, but strangely, Copilot+ never really excited me.

Still, there's one feature I wish I had on my current Windows 11 PCs – Click to Do.

Click to Do - the only Copilot+ feature I actually need!

Of all the features in Copilot+, the one I know I'd use daily is Click to Do. It's not flashy, it's not trying to re-invent the wheel, and it's ultimately the most useful feature for me.

It makes life easier by adding useful tools into the context menu, like removing or blurring image backgrounds, doing text rewrites, and more. I'd take advantage of these features in a heartbeat.

Although, I'm not sure if an NPU is necessary for all Click to Do offerings. Take the text features for example, can't they be done by a GPU or without an NPU?

But it is what it is, and without Copilot+, I can't access Click to Do.

The Rest of Copilot+? Could Be Better

Most of Copilot+ feels like it's only there to show off, honestly. Stuff like Windows Studio Effects, which can be replicated with other hardware and software, is pretty neat. But it's not essential.

Recall is another feature I questioned the need for. It's the most talked-about Copilot+ feature, but I just can't see myself needing it in my day-to-day life. Maybe I'm just more organized than I think I am?

And the rest of the Copilot+ features aren't must-haves either. Features like Cocreator might have improved since last I tested it, but again, so what? The quality of the work isn't impressive enough to make the rest of us feel like artists.

All these laptops are being sold as Copilot+ PCs, and I think it's misleading. Copilot+ might be the last thing I'd recommend when considering whether to buy one of these machines. Copilot+ PCs are great, but it's their hardware and performance that truly sold me, not the fancy AI label.

I'm a person who stays unimpressed by marketing hype and buzzwords. If I was easily swayed by company spin, I'd likely own a MacBook full-time by now. But these laptops' Snapdragon chips are the real highlights here, not any artificial intelligence gimmick.

Snapdragon Chips - The True Heroes

When it comes to ARM architecture, we've been dreaming of a serious competitor to Apple's own ARM-based revolution. Well, Qualcomm has finally delivered on that dream thanks to these Snapdragon chips.

Performance, design, battery life, gaming capabilities – these laptops have it all. And a little feature called Auto SR, which is only available on Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs right now, is more impressive than any Copilot+ feature.

So, let's stop calling them Copilot+ PCs and start celebrating these amazing machines for what they really offer: quick, efficient performance thanks to Snapdragon chips.

  1. The discussed laptops using Snapdragon X chips could potentially run Microsoft's Windows 11, enhancing the overall experience with Copilot+ software.
  2. If I were to purchase a new laptop with Snapdragon technology, it would undoubtedly open up the possibility of utilizing features like Click to Do, a Copilot+ function I find particularly useful.
  3. I wouldn't necessarily need an NPU for Click to Do, considering text features could potentially be processed by a GPU.
  4. Although Windows Studio Effects is an impressive Copilot+ feature, it's not essential, especially when comparable results can be achieved with different hardware and software.
  5. In my opinion, Copilot+ PCs should be celebrated for their hardware and performance, particularly the Snapdragon chips, which deliver exceptional gaming capabilities, battery life, and design.
  6. Auto SR, a feature exclusive to Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, is actually more noteworthy than any Copilot+ function, demonstrating the true potential of Snapdragon chips in PC technology.
