Salesforce Empowering India with Education and Sustainability Initiatives

Salesforce, the world's leading CRM company, is making a significant impact in India by focusing on education, sustainability, and empowering the nation's youth and educators.

The tech giant's initiatives prominently focus on advancing STEM education, career readiness, educator support, and green skills development.

In the realm of STEM education, Salesforce is expanding access to quality education by establishing digital labs in collaboration with the nonprofit Nirmaan. These labs aim to enhance science, technology, engineering, and math learning opportunities for students.

Salesforce is also committed to career readiness. The company partners with organizations like the Antarang Foundation and Katalyst India to provide mentorship and developmental programs focusing on career and college guidance, especially for high school students and young women. This mentorship empowers youth to make informed career choices and prepares female students for leadership roles.

Educator support is another key area of focus. Salesforce supports teacher reskilling and professional development through partnerships with Meghshala and Mantra for Change. These programs help high school teachers adopt technology in classrooms and improve teaching practices, thereby fostering engaging and student-centered learning environments.

Salesforce's commitment to green skills & AI training is evident in its collaboration with the 1M1B Foundation to establish the 1M1B Green Skills Academy in Hyderabad. The aim is to train 1 million young people by 2030 in essential green economy skills and artificial intelligence, creating pathways to employment in sustainable industries.

Salesforce employees also contribute volunteer hours mentoring students on technical subjects such as data structures and algorithms, further supporting career readiness. The company promotes AI literacy and internal training, preparing the workforce for future technologies.

In addition to these initiatives, Salesforce is making strides in sustainability. The company has established a Biodiversity Park in Hyderabad in collaboration with Green Yatra, planting 40,000 native saplings. Salesforce has also established a Miyawaki forest in Thane, Mumbai, with over 33,000 saplings.

Salesforce is also involved in corporate philanthropy, having contributed over $10 million in all-time giving to nonprofits in India. The company has completed a 15-acre lake restoration project in Bangalore to conserve a polluted and dead water body, providing surplus drinking water to the community. Salesforce has also rejuvenated an 11.5-acre polluted water body in Hyderabad, providing clean water and supporting the livelihoods of the Dhobi community.

Salesforce, in collaboration with Youth of India, has built decentralized solar micro-grids in remote areas of Telangana, partnering with indigenous communities to provide last-mile energy connectivity.

Salesforce's Managing Director - Operations & Technology, Sanket Atal, emphasized Salesforce's belief that business is one of the greatest platforms for change. The company supports ecopreneurs and initiatives like 1t.org, aiming to inspire the greater global movement toward a net zero, nature-positive world.

Salesforce is also supporting the restoration of a degraded forest in Wayanad, a critical elephant habitat, through natural regeneration in collaboration with local tribal communities.

Arundhati Bhattacharya, President and CEO of Salesforce - South Asia, commented on Salesforce's commitment to ensuring the promise of technology reaches everyone in India. Sanket Atal reaffirmed Salesforce's commitment to corporate philanthropy in India, stating that business is one of the greatest platforms for change.

These initiatives demonstrate Salesforce’s integrated approach to empowering Indian youth and educators with STEM knowledge, career skills, educational technology, and sustainability-focused competencies.
