Crowds of Apple enthusiasts line up for the release of the iPhone 17 in stores
In the heart of London, Apple's flagship store on Regent Street was the scene of anticipation as early as 5am on Friday. Customers, including Michael Issott, a 24-year-old from Bournemouth, queued outside, eagerly awaiting the release of the highly-anticipated iPhone 16.
Michael, who has been getting the latest iPhone annually for the past four years, expressed his excitement about the enhanced front-facing camera and improved battery of the new device. Interestingly, the release day for the iPhone 16 tends to fall around his birthday, making the purchase even more significant for him.
Kaiann Drance, Apple's vice president, highlighted some of the iPhone 16's key features during the launch. The device boasts a larger and brighter ProMotion display, all-day battery life with faster charging, a powerful A19 chip, a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system, and an innovative Centre Stage front camera.
The iPhone 16 is available in a variety of colours, including lavender and sage, and is priced from £799. It promises an updated front camera, 256GB of storage, and all-day battery life.
Besides the iPhone 16, other new products that went on sale on Friday include the iPhone Air, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, Apple Watch SE 3, and the third-generation AirPods Pro.
While the name of the first seller of the iPhone 16 interviewed by the press on the sales launch day in London remains unidentified in the available search results, it's clear that the launch of the iPhone 16 has sparked excitement among Apple enthusiasts.
Taras, from Russia, was among those who queued to buy the new iPhone 16 for re-sale. As the crowd dispersed and the first sales were made, it marked another successful launch for Apple, demonstrating the enduring appeal of their products.
